Annual Education Report (AER)

February 17, 2021

Dear Parents and Community Members:

We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2019-20 educational progress for Harrington Elementary School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, accountability, and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Mr. Robert Giles Jr. for assistance.

The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following website:, or you may review the document by following the following link file:///C:/Users/rgiles/Downloads/AnnualEducationReport%20(1).pdf;  In addition, You may also review a copy in the main office at Harrington Elementary School.

For the 2019-20 school year, schools were identified using definitions and labels as required in Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). A Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) school is one that has at least one underperforming student subgroup. An Additional Targeted Support (ATS) school is one that has a student subgroup performing at the same level as the lowest 5% of all schools in the state. A Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) school is one whose performance is in the lowest 5% of all schools in the state or has a graduation rate at or below 67%. Harrington Elementary has not been given one of these labels.
State law requires that we also report additional information.
  1. Harrington Elementary participates in “Schools of Choice” and welcomes students who accurately complete the process.  Students are assigned based on their knowledge, age, and previous school year completion.
  2. We are continuing to work on our school improvement plan.  We have student achievement goals in ELA and Math and additional goals in the areas of MTSS and PBIS.  We gather data every year and create challenging, yet appropriate goals for our school.  We will continue to evaluate our assessment and instruction methods to see increases in student scores.
  3. We do not have a specialized school.
  4. You may contact the principal’s office, or you may contact Chad M. Holt, Curriculum Director for Marshall Public Schools.
  5. You may see the results for the M-STEP by accessing the AER report on the Marshall Public Schools website.
  6. We hold two conferences for parents/guardians: one in the fall and one in the spring.  We have averaged around 70% attendance over the past three years.
We are very proud of our students and their achievements at Harrington Elementary School.  Our staff members work hard to provide a positive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for all of our students and their families. We are fortunate to have parent support as we work in partnership with our families and the greater Albion/Marshall Community.
